so It's Veronica writing about probably one of the most famous or (infamous) songs; Barbie Girl ~ By the Scandinavian pop group Aqua. This song received a lot of attention from the media and public for not only it's very catchy pop tune, but also because of the obvious subtext behind it's lyrics. It was one of the first songs taking a stab at the preconceived idea of what an "attractive" women was suppose to look like, and how this unrealistic and sexually objectifying image was bestowed onto young girls. It really drove home how "blonde Bimbo Girls" were unfortunately seen as role models for young girls and how materialistic objectives resulted in you being treated like an object. I think it's pretty cool and smart how such a fun and upbeat song also has a more relevant and important message behind it.
