Barbie Girl ~ By Aqua

Hi Everyone!
so It's Veronica writing about probably one of the most famous or (infamous) songs; Barbie Girl ~ By the Scandinavian pop group Aqua. This song received a lot of attention from the media and public for not only it's very catchy pop tune, but also because of the obvious subtext behind it's lyrics. It was one of the first songs taking a stab at the preconceived idea of what an "attractive" women was suppose to look like, and how this unrealistic and sexually objectifying image was bestowed onto young girls. It really drove home how "blonde Bimbo Girls" were unfortunately seen as role models for young girls and how materialistic objectives resulted in you being treated like an object. I think it's pretty cool and smart how such a fun and upbeat song also has a more relevant and important message behind it. I really do encourage you to have a listen if will definitely put a smile on your face :-)

A Thousand Miles (Vanessa Carlton Cover) by Jeremy Passion & Andrew Garcia

Hi MusicHeads!
It's Kai again! I just stumbled upon this cover of A Thousand Miles on YouTube. Jeremy Passion is one of my favorite YouTube artists that performs covers and makes his own originals. If you haven't checked out his channel just search up 'passionsf' on YouTube! Anyways, back to the topic, I usually associate A Thousand Miles as a comedic song that everyone sing at Karoke because EVERYONE knows this song. It's usually associated with the movie 'White Chicks' and hence isn't really a song that's taken seriously. However, this acoustic cover blows my mind. The lyrics suddenly mean something when sung and played by these two artist. It's guitar accompaniment is catchy and makes me want to jam along with them! A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera - Say Something

Hey MusicHeads!
It's Kai here. Today i'm going to jump out of my usual R&B songs and review a sad song. Usually i'm not depressed enough to repeatedly listen to a sad song, but Say Something seems to have just struck a chord with me. The song was originally released as a solo single in Axel's solo album ' This is the New year 2011' and only gained popularity after Christina Aguilera worked on the song. However, I don't think we should accredit the popularity of the song because Christina Aguilera was added. The song is great because of it's powerful lyrics and simple yet emotional composition. There is no doubt that Christina Aguilera also delivered the song powerfully. Her harmony seems to act as the response and adds so much meaning to the song ( as if they are talking to each other telling each other to say something). A great emotionally impacting song!

Broken~ Ft. Amy Lee & Seether

Hi MusicHeads!
So it's Veronica, and i am back to bring you a different kind of tune. Broken by Amy Lee and Seether is a bit of an old one first released in 2009, but good music is timeless. This song really draws on the heart strings with the rawness in their voices bringing out the listeners deeper feelings.

Listening to this song is kind of like walking through an empty field in the dead of winter (well at least that's what i picture).  The thing i love most about it is that it has a story within the lyrics, it's amazing how it makes the listener relax and takes them on a journey at the same time. Please have a listen, this song is one of the greats. >>>>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPC2Fp7IT7o

Dirty Pop ~ Nsync

Hey Everyone! Veronica here Hope you are liking our posts so far :)
This post is kind of an impulse one. I was going through my old iPod and one song that really brought me back was Nsync's Ditry Pop.  Now this song packs a punch! It gets your heart racing from the first verse all the way to the last chorus.  What I love about it was that this song was the top of pop back in the 2000's and it didn't need swearing and objectification to do so. It has a wicked upbeat and dramatic highs and lows that keeps the listener on their toes. They use harmony and synths perfectly to achieve an ever lasting track.
Do yourself a favour and listen to this golden oldie before pop got destroyed, in the link below

Boyz II Men- End of the Road

4 Real Singers that know how to do it.
Real Music.
No auto-tune.
So we're back to the 90's where classics such as these songs were born. End of the Road was Boyz II Men's most successful single that was written by Kenneth Edmonds, L. A. Reid and Daryl Simmons. The song won Best R&B Performance by a duo or Group with Vocal, and Best R&B Song in the 1993 Grammy Awards- a well deserved award. Listening to this song immediately brings me back to my year 6 farewell where End of the Road was played as the last song. Needless to say, tears were shed (by all the girls). Anyways, this song is refreshing to the ear and is the perfect song to listen to when you want something different from all the generic pop/thug songs of the 20th century.

Bad by David Guetta and Showtek fet. Vassy

Here's one for the nightclubs musicheads.
This is David Guetta collaborating with former hardstyle icon Showtek to bring us a smashing club with vocals from Vassy. This track defiantly sounds like Guetta is moving away from the commercial dance sound of his last LP. Former hardstyle duo Showtek ensure that the beats come thicker and faster than ever, while Australian dance diva Vassy provides the instantly catchy hook — albeit in a heavily autotuned voice.

Bad is defiantly one to get the party pumping, watch out for this one during your nightlife.

Chandelier~By Sia

Greetings fellow MusicHeads,
Veronica here to start us off with Sia's stunning track Chandelier. For an artist who is suppose to be in retirement she sure shows everyone that "she's still got it". Her latest is another smashing hit to add to her enormous pile of timeless songs. Sia's unique high voice really gives the listener the image of being up in the air "swinging from the Chandelier". The song is about living in the moment and being free to do what you want. The lyrics are beautiful, fitting and deep that combined with her raw high long held notes transport the listener to a higher place. Listening to this song you can really distinguish the true artists from the commercial auto tuned ones.
Sia's complexity in rhythms, and use of loud and soft dynamics along with her vocal gymnastics leaves no comparisons with some of today's artists on the charts.   Let's hope this won't be her last project out of retirement as i am loving her unique and quirky style.
below is a link to the track, you're welcome ;-)

LOYAL By Christ Brown Ft. Lil Wayne and Tyga

Hi guys,
It's Veronica checking out Loyal by Chris Brown ft Lil Wayne and Tyga. I don't know what Chris Brown is doing, but whatever it is he needs to keep doing it because the songs coming out from him are just amazing. Loyal is one of my favourites as it's easy melody and classic R&B tune just makes you want to dance. However drawing on listenings of the Explicit and Clean Version their use of "Hoes" and "Girls" as interchangeable words

for each other doesn't sit quite well with me.
Some of the other lyrics are quite sexually objectifying in reference to women, but then again
unfortunately which rappers aren't these days hey? I think when listening to this song especially younger generations we should keep in mind that "Hoes" and "Girls" are two different things. In many of Lil Wayne and Chris Browns other songs they glorify the strip club life, maybe if they want to meet loyal girls they should try hanging out in different places. Just saying. In all the lyrics aren't great but the actual music really hits the spot. Happy Listening guys!

Miguel - Adorn

=Hellooooooo Musicheads!!
It's Kai, bringing back some soul!
Todays' song is Miguel - Adorn. Adorn is the first official single from Kaleidoscope Dream and what I would describe as a modern soul R&B love song. Unlike the Old school jam love songs that usually feature rather slow beats leading to climatic falsetto goodness , this song is quite upbeat and remains so throughout the song. Usually if a song carries the same rhythm throughout it gets boring and un-listenable. Strangely enoug, I can't seem to stop listening to this unique rhythm that is coupled by chord transitions you don't usually find in R&B songs.  An awesome song that just makes you feel good.
